Storyboard Blog

First scene - In the first scene, a student is filmed sitting at a desk in a classroom. The student looks very bored and uninterested, clearly not paying attention to what's going on around them.

Second scene - The camera then transitions into an over the shoulder shot of the student. This shot allows the viewers to see the student's doodles on their paper. The doodles are filled with imagery of Coca-Cola, such as the logo, coke bottles and cans, etc.

Third scene - The camera zooms in on the clock. The clock is ticking, and as it reaches a certain time a bell rings.

Fourth scene - The student quickly gets up and rushes out of the classroom to the vending machines. This scene consists of shots of the student running to the vending machines. For example, there is a shot of the student hurriedly running down the stairs.

Fifth scene - The student finally reaches the vending machine, very out of breath. The student quickly orders a coke from the vending machine and proceeds to drink it. The student looks very refreshed afterwards.

Sixth scene - The camera fades to black and the Coca-Cola logo appears. A tagline also appears under the logo.

Planning Blog

Props:

The main prop in this commercial will be a Coca-Cola drink. I have still not decided if it will be a can or a bottle. Most likely the main prop will end up being a bottle of coke.

Costumes:

No specific costumes or clothing is needed for this commercial. I plan on making the main focus of the commercial the actual coke bottle or can. Due to this, there is not really any clothing requirement for the actors in the commercial.

Schedule:

On 9/21/21, the Intro Blog and Group Blog were both completed

On 9/23/21, the research and planning for the commercial was completed and turned into a blog.

On 9/29/21 - 10/1/21, the storyboard for the commercial will be drawn up and submitted.

10/1/21 and 10/5/21 are the days when the commercial will be filmed.

Editing will take place on 10/7/21 and 10/11/21.

The completed commercial will be submitted on 10/11/21.

The reflection on the commercial process is going to be submitted on 10/13/21.

Location List:

The commercial will be filmed on the Fort Lauderdale High School campus. The main filming locations will just be areas around the school. I have not decided on any particular locations to shoot in yet. Some ideas for the filming locations are the field, the area by the stairwell to the media center, and the area by the cafeteria.

Backup Plan:

If the weather is bad or I am unable to film in the chosen locations then I can film inside the school. For example, I could film in the hallways. Or I could potentially film inside of the classroom.

Research Blog

I have decided to do a commercial about Coca-Cola. These commercials often feature people drinking Coca-Cola and enjoying it.

  •  People in these commercials are usually dressed up in normal clothing. There is no specific clothing type or brand featured in these commercials.
  • The people in these commercials usually appear very happy and cheerful. They seem to be having a good time. They also appear to be in a very good mood. The people in these commercials are usually drinking coke, whether it be from a can, cup, or a bottle. While drinking coke, the people usually have satisfied expressions conveying how delicious coke is.
  • Some props in these commercials include coke bottles, coke cans, and vending machines. These are the most common props present in these commercials.
  • The score in these commercials is generally very upbeat and happy. This happy and upbeat music goes along well with the cheerful and happy people seen in these commercials. Often the score is composed by famous musicians.
  • Many coke commercials convey wholesome and uplifting scenes, which can inspire sympathy in people watching the commercials.

Codes and Conventions

  • Coca-Cola commercials heavily feature red and white imagery. These colors are synonymous with the brand of Coca-Cola.
  • Commercials often feature groups of people, which conveys themes of friendship and unity.
  • Usually heavily feature the Coca-Cola logo, whether it be on bottles and cans or on things like billboards or vending machines.
  • Many commercials feature a shot of coke being poured into a cup.

Group Blog

For this project, I have decided to work alone. There are a few factors to this decision. The main factor is that I believe I work better alone. I've always preferred solo work over group work. Additionally, I believe that the work I have turned in alone is superior to any group work that I have turned in. It is sometimes difficult to work in a group. It can be very distracting, and people in the group can fail to complete their work. In past group projects, I have had many group members not do their share of the work. As a result of this, the entire group ends up getting a bad grade because of one person. I do not want this to happen.

In addition to that, I do not really know anybody in this class. I usually find it difficult to work with people who I do not know very well. Conflicting ideas between group members can lead to disappointing work being turned in. I care about my grade and would rather not risk having it potentially ruined by other people who don't do their share of the work.

Summed up, it is honestly just easier for me to work alone. I prefer to work alone. I would rather have my grade in my hands alone rather than somebody else's. I do not know anyone in this class, and for me it is difficult to work with people I don't know. Sometimes, it is a big risk to work with other people on projects. These are the reasons I am working alone for this project.

Intro Blog

Hello. My name is Aiden Hurst. I am fifteen years old right now. I'll be turning sixteen in November. I go to school at Fort Lauderdale High School and I am a sophomore. I've been at Fort Lauderdale High School since freshman year. I was born in Florida and have lived here for my entire life. Most of my family lives in Florida. Some of my hobbies include collecting music and playing video games. I have a collection of records, cassette tapes, and CDs.

The reason I took this class is because I thought it looked interesting. Ever since I was a child, I always loved movies. I remember watching movies with my grandpa and dad all the time. I enjoyed them a lot. I still watch a lot of movies and I am very interested in how they're made. The process of film production looks very interesting to me. It looks complex but also fun. I am excited to learn about that process in this class. Hopefully I can put the concepts and skills learned in this class to use if I ever decide to go into the field of filmmaking as a career. Although I am not planning on going into the field of filmmaking for a career, I still think it is an interesting thing to learn about and do. All in all, I am very excited for the things I will learn in this class.

Planning Blog: Title Design

The opening credits of my film will be in the Goudy Old Style font. I really like the way this font looks, and think it fits my film well. ...
