Music Video

This is my music video project. I am quite proud of the final result. It took a long time to finish, and I am mostly happy with how it turned out. All though it is a bit rough around the edges, I believe it is an improvement over my commercial project. I was able to be a lot more creative in this project, and I think that resulted in a better final product. I learned a lot of valuable skills during this project. Hopefully, I can apply these new skills I learned to my next project. I am sure the skills I learned will result in the next project being even better than this one. All I have to do now is the CCR for this music video project, and then it will be officially complete. Overall, I had a positive experience during this project, and I look forward to the next project.

Music Video Editing Blog - New Editing Software

Today was my final day of editing. I made the decision to scrap all of the previous editing I did and do a fresh restart using a new editing software. The reasoning behind this is that the editing software I was using was extremely difficult to work with, and the footage I had already edited did not come out good. Looking back on the work I did yesterday, I was really not satisfied with how my footage came out. This was a big contributing factor to my decision.

Surprisingly, this decision to restart did not actually set me back too much. I was expecting to be majorly inconvenienced by this setback, but it turned out to only be a minor inconvenience.

The new editing software I chose is so much better than the last one. It is much more intuitive and easy to use, and has all the features I needed. Additionally, it's also a major improvement over the first editing software that I used to edit my commercial. It has so many more options and helpful guides that I really put to use. I am very glad that I was able to find this editing software.

Again, I compiled my footage into the editing software and then began rearranging it and editing it. Having already organized and chose my footage yesterday, this went by relatively quickly. Then I started editing everything, and overlayed the song onto the video. It was a bit difficult to choose the start point for the song but I chose a good place to start it. Additionally, it was also quite difficult to get all the clips synced up to the lyrics of the song, but I managed to do it with relative ease.

I finished about 95% of the editing today. All I have is a few touch ups to do and then I'll be officially done with the music video. Then after that I'll be able to do my CCR and then be completely done with this music video project.

Music Video Editing Blog - Editing Software Issues

Today was my first day of editing. Things were a bit difficult today, but I edited about a quarter of the video today. This wasn't as much as I was hoping to get done, but at least it's something.

The reason for the small amount of editing I did has to do with the software I used. I switched to a different editing software than I used for my music video. I did this because I wanted to have more options for editing, and I thought a different editing software would give me more options. Sadly, this editing software I chose was not very intuitive at all, and it was a real struggle to get any work done. Eventually, I got it working but it didn't really come out right. I kept trying different things and looking up guides but nothing really helped. Due to this, I think I am going to switch editing softwares again. I will either use the software that I used for my music video or find an entirely new one. I may ask my friend for recommendations, because he has a YouTube channel and edits videos.

The first thing I did was actually install the new editing software onto my computer. After it was installed, I looked over my footage and chose the best version of the scenes that I would use. Then, I compiled this footage into the editing software. The footage was very disorganized, so I had to do a fair bit of sorting and organizing. I tried to overlay my song for my music video over the footage but I couldn't get it to work. I reorganized some of the scenes so the video would flow better, so the actual music video will not be a 1-1 replica of my storyboard. However, most of the scenes in the storyboard are mostly the same, bar a few differences here and there. Tomorrow will be a tough day of editing, as I have to make the decision to either keep using the frustrating software or scrap all my progress and choose a better software to edit with.

Filming Blog Music Video - Phone Problems

Today was my second day of filming. The filming for today was a bit rough and did not go as smoothly as day 1. The reason for this was that I filmed the more difficult scenes today. Additionally, my phone was taking very blurry videos at first so I had to use my brother's phone. But besides this, the filming went alright. I was able to film the rest of my music video. I actually obtained a lot of footage, which is good because that will give me a lot of options during editing.

One of the props I needed for today's filming was a phone. I needed to be able to display certain text messages on the phone. To do this, I downloaded a fake text messaging app on my phone which allowed me to make text messages between both people, change times, and other things. This app worked phenomenal, and was very intuitive and easy to use. This was the first scene I filmed today and was probably the easiest scene to film out of all of them.

After that I continued to film the rest of my scenes. I did the same thing as yesterday where I told my brother what to do and had him film. The only difference was that we filmed with his phone and not mine.

While filming, I had my brother try a few different angles for some scenes. These new angles allow me to have some different options for scenes to use during filming. All in all, today was a very productive day. All I need to do now is edit my music video and it will be done. I am looking forward to the editing, as I think I'll be able to create a very unique video.

Music Video Filming Blog: Props

Today was my first day of filming. All in all, it went very well and I am satisfied with the amount of footage I got. I filmed about half of the music video, and filmed most of the easier scenes today.

To begin the day, I first assembled some of the props I needed for filming. The props I got today were the instruments. I managed to borrow some guitars and other instruments from my grandfather to use in the music video. These props worked great for the video, and looked very good.

I then began filming after acquiring the props I needed to use. I had my brother hold the camera and film after I gave him directions on what to do. I starred in the commercial. We worked in a non linear way, and did not go scene by scene in the storyboard. This approach worked well. I was able to get a great amount of footage because I did an extra take for most scenes. However, the footage is a bit disorganized, and I will have to sort through it to find out which takes I will use for the final video.

Tomorrow I will wrap up the filming of my music video. This should not be too hard, as I only have about half of the scenes that I still need to film. After that, I will move on to the editing of my music video. I anticipate this will be a bit difficult, as I am still not that great at editing. Additionally, it seems challenging to sync the song up to the video, which is my main worry. Nonetheless, I am still excited to continue and eventually finish this music video.

The opening credits of my film will be in the Goudy Old Style font. I really like the way this font looks, and think it fits my film well. ...
